Today I went to the post office box after too long and found this letter dated 01 December,2009. From the local immigration office.
Dear Ms.
This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada under the Permit Holder Class.
Our records indicate that your temporary resident permit and your work permit expired on 03 October, 2009. I remind you that it is your responsibility to maintain legal status in Canada while you are waiting for your application for permanent residence to be processed. As well, you must be in possession of a temporary resident permit in order to be considered under the Permit Holder Class for permanent residence.
Please provide proof to me within 30 days from the date of this letter that you have submitted an application to extend your status in Canada to the Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta. If you do not provide the requested information, a decision may be made based on the information on your file which could lead to your application for permanent residence being refused.
Yours truly,
Citizenship and Immigration Officer.
Just look at the way they write...
I called the 1 888 Alberta office and my applications were received on September 4, 09. I was wondering what type of proof I should send to the immigration office tomorrow. Maybe receipts, I don't know. So I call my lawyer and I ask what should I take and he said receipts.
And then I called the immigration call centre and my application for a work visa was approved today.
Yeah, imagine being jobless from October 3, 09 to December 22, 09 for lack of piece of paper. Yeah, imagine that...bills, food, weed, rent, stuff undone...
Risk takers do exist. I just had to say that.
OMG, what a journey.
When the work visa itself arrives, I will apply for a carecard and hopefully I stay healthy for the duration of the wait. This angers me. The don't care carecard!
In the same breath, I am grateful.
This is cool, I can now again start talking openly about my job...Geez.
Now I have breathing space until my permanent residence application is processed.
That was tough ladies and gentlemen...
Have courage.
