On the 26th of February I wrote a letter to my awesome lawyer Peter Golden enclosing my passport, ID and marriage certificate and their photocopies. His job is to certify the photocopies. From there, I can send off form (IMM 1436) and ALL the required documents to amend confirmation of permanent residence (IMM 5292).
The lady at the immigration office Officer Lori Wilson said to me that this was not an issue and yet, there are forms exactly to rectify an error in date of original entry. The date should read July 4, 1996 and NOT July 4, 2006. That is 10 years off my immigration file that totally messes my record.
I have envisioned myself detained in London on my way to Canada from Africa because of this error. If I can see it, I believe it will happen and immigration's Canada Officer Lori Wilson would not be there to bail me out. It would be me and Kenya. After all that...immigration Canada's job is to make it as hard for me as possible to fully enter even though the system is working with me. I have been in Canada long enough and dealt with immigration Canada long enough to know this.
That is why I am setting the records straight.
Cheers!
