Conversation with my friend...
Friend:I can't believe one clerical error like that makes it such a risk for you to leave the country!!!
ME:
Inconsistent information could keep me out from returning. Even the USA embassy asked when I first got to Canada. If it was me coming back and I was asked the same question on the border, I might never come back in. We paid the full landing fee and I expect full attention to detail. No one else can feel what I am feeling because it no one else who might be refused entry. I am not taking the risk with a one clerical error Friend. I used to be Secretary and know errors occur and trying to evade the error like officer Lori Wilson did is not ethical.
ME:
It is a serious error because they have amendments for it. If this error occurs, it has to be corrected. If I am wrong about them, my piece of paper should come in the mail soon...then I can travel...Only then. I am a risk taker and going home or to the USA without my proper confirmation of permanence residence, is a risk I am NOT willing to take. I am not going anywhere until then. Thanks for caring. Period.
ME
There is no risk in me leaving the country. I can now, I could have left in 1997 to bury my kid, all sorts of times I could have gone home, it is the coming back that is problem. Canada will gladly see me go... I have to have papers without blemish.
